JOHN VELTRI, EARTHALIVE’s director - co-producer, has over 35 years expertise in professional photography and documentary filmmaking, and has written and photographically illustrated numerous books. His knowledge of media, understanding of indigenous perspectives and years of experience in working with elders and teachers from many different cultures is the foundation of the company.

John Veltri’s photography, filmmaking and directing career began in California and led him to New York, Cyprus, Greece, the Caribbean and back to California. While in New York, John was the sole owner of a successful commercial photography business in the heart of Manhattan. He illustrated numerous books and magazines, photographed the architecture of world-renowned architects, and worked for prestigious publishers such as Newsweek, National Geographic, Reader’s Digest and Double Day. He has photographed art, dance, fashion and automobiles, captured the rise of the Civil Rights movement and anti-war demonstrations in New York City, documented the underwater discovery of an ancient shipwreck in Cyprus for National Geographic, and photographed downtown Manhattan from the then-newly-constructed skeleton of the Twin Towers. He also photographed the Statue of Liberty from a helicopter for a book he did for Newsweek. John wrote and illustrated several of his own published books. His photographs are in the archives of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Museum of Immigration in New York, the Centre Canadian d’Architecture in Montreal, the University of Pennsylvania Archeological Library.
