Summoned by the haunting song of 12 Andean flutes, a daring tree dancer silently descends from the tip of an giant redwood. The community below - gazing upwards from their woven nest on the forest floor - awaits his arrival.
This amazing feat, performed by Karl Gillick, was witnessed by members of Anna Halprin’s Sea Ranch Dance Collective who supported his efforts with Andean flutes. The Tree Dancer was part of a series of performances held by the Collective. Karl had climbed so far up in the treetops that when looking up to search for him, he was invisible.
